Spider Vein Removal/Therapy in NY

Elimination of the tiny purplish veins in the legs(spider veins) has been a challenge to physicians for many decades. These unsightly capillaries usually do not harm the patients but are greatly unsightly especially if there are many of them covering the legs. The common way of treating these spiders have been to inject them periodically and hope for the best. This technique(sclerotherapy) works for some of these spiders veins for a short period of time or does not work at all. In many patients it leave dark brownish marks on the treated side which lasts for years. The major problem with this approach is that the underlying cause which are the varicose veins and especially leaks are not corrected. Laser treatment has the same drawback. It tries to close the spiders without closing the source. The end result is that many of these spiders will open up soon after the treatment but also many patients develop many smaller spiders in the vicinity of the treated areas. This results in a purplish discoloration of the skin. Endo-laser and Electro frequency closure are not used to treat the spiders. The critical issue to eliminate these unsightly spider veins is to treat the cause as well. Majority of the spider veins are cause by varicose veins. The varicose veins start from leaky valves in the upper or lower legs. BEFORE any treatment of spider veins are done by any method, these veins and valves have to be closed first. This is the key to create near perfect legs. Unfortunately most of time this step is not taken. As the result, in many patients the legs progressively look worse with repeated treatment( laser or sclerotherapy). Other devices which use a needle and heat to close the spiders have not shown to have a very desirable outcome.
