Treatment of varicose veins have gone through many changes recently. Old fashion stripping has been replaced by newer techniques such as closure techniques, laser treatments and foam sclerotherapy. The Harvester technique is the latest approach to eliminate varicose veins and spiders veins permanently by eliminating all the responsible leaks causing those veins. Endo-lasers(EVLT) and VNUS closure have been used for are used to treat these veins but they are not always effective and also carry some risks which have to be known to patients. Recurrence of these veins and also creation of clots in the deep veins have been a problem in many studies. In some centers only foam sclerotherapy is used instead of laser treatment or VNUS closure but that also fails frequently and carries certain risks as well. Our patented technique(Harvester technique) is aimed at avoiding any major anesthesia, no disability, no need to use the hospital facility and ending up with a near perfect leg. In many centers around the world varicose veins and spiders are injected or lasered without paying attention to the responsible sources which have created these veins. These vein treatments will fail due to presence of these waterfalls under the skin which continue to open new veins and spiders and make the old ones larger. Our patented technique ( Harvester technique) is intended to address all these tiny or larger leaks (perforators) and also all the spiders thus creating near perfect legs in over 99% of our patients. Lasers are an effective tool at the end of the treatment for spiders after all the feeing veins causing the spiders have been eliminated. Any laser work prior to this step will result in return of the treated spiders. Another important factor is that the varicose and spider vein treatments should carry minimal if any risks. It has been show many times that both Vnus closure and Endo-laser(EVLT) could create clots in the larger vein ( so called DVT) which can be potentially fatal.
